Leave / Absence Norms
Regular attendance is a vital part of academic success. At Evans Matriculation Higher Secondary School, attendance is closely monitored, and students are expected to follow the guidelines below:
- ✔️ 85% attendance is compulsory for every student to be on the school roll and to qualify for examinations.
- ✔️ Half-day leave will not be permitted. Once a student enters school, they are required to stay for the entire day.
- ✔️ Staying away from classes for “self-study” before examinations is not allowed unless officially announced by the school.
- ✔️ Any planned leave must be applied for in advance through a written request signed by the parent/guardian in the school diary.
- ✔️ If the absence is due to illness lasting more than three days, a doctor’s certificate must be submitted along with a leave letter.
- ✔️ For sudden or emergency absences, parents should call the school office between 9:00 a.m. – 9:30 a.m. on the day of absence and send a written note the following day.
- ✔️ A student absent for three consecutive days without prior permission must report to the Principal before rejoining classes.
- ✔️ Uncertified absence for more than a week may lead to the student’s name being struck off from the school rolls.
- ✔️ Students who fail to show leave notes or test reports to parents for countersignature may be sent home.
- ✔️ Long leave will be sanctioned only by the Principal in cases of serious illness, with a valid medical certificate and a covering letter from parents.
- ✔️ Parents are requested to monitor their ward’s attendance closely and avoid unnecessary leave.
- ✔️ Half-day leave or frequent absence affects discipline and learning continuity; hence, it should be avoided.
